I find it hot

that she’s not here.

That she can love

a troubadour.

That neither’s texts

require reply.

That naught obliges

alibi.

That we’ve no need

to label this

and none demands

exclusiveness.

That my being bi

is not a threat.

That it’s actually

the opposite.

That both still spring

to pay the check.

That she does laundry

and I’m the cook.

That even though

we’re so well matched,

still there are no

strings attached.

No strings attached —

but something’s taut.

It must be trust.

I find that hot.
