NOTES:

The astral plane, also called the astral realm or the astral world, is a plane of existence postulated by classical, medieval, oriental, and esoteric philosophies and mystery religions. It is the world of the celestial spheres, crossed by the soul in its astral body on the way to being born and after death, and is generally believed to be populated by angels, spirits or other immaterial beings

 

My piece illustrates the journey one goes through to reach the center of the astral planes. With the beginning representing the mysterious start in unknown, the piece has many outbursts of life and spirit sprinkled throughout. The piece uses a blend of metallic and wood percussion to create an ethereal energy; not only that, but the piece has a balance of melodic and non melodic percussion. In the middle of the piece, the melodic percussion disappears and the non-melodic instruments take the stage- representing the thunder and power in the realm. Finally it culminates in a large burst of energy, life and the unknown.
